Gresham Motorsports Park Announces Purse, Daily Schedule For 2010 World Crown 300
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JEFFERSON, GA (February 2, 2010) – More than $170,000 in prize money will be up for grabs when the 27th-Annual World Crown 300 takes the green flag at Gresham Motorsports Park Thursday-Sunday, November 11-14, 2010.
Topping the list will be a $20,000 first-place prize to the winner of the prestigious 300-lap event which this year will feature the return of the Super Late Models as the headline division. According to Gresham Motorsports Park General Manager Dan Elliott, the Sunday November 14 battle on the ultra-fast GMP half-mile oval will be a supreme test for the high-flying Super Late Models.
“Whoever wins this year’s World Crown 300 is really going to earn their money,” said Elliott. “We’re not only paying $20,000 to win, but we’re also paying $1,250 to start. That kind of money, along with the opportunity to win one of short-track racing’s greatest events, is sure to draw a spectacular field of cars.”
The Pro Late Model division will again be a part of the World Crown 300 schedule events competing in a 125-lap main event on Saturday, November 13. That event will feature a total purse of more than $35,000 with $7,000 going to the winner.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s program will also feature a 75-lap Truck Series main event with $2,000 to win and $200 to start.
“We’re expecting more than 50 Pro Late Model cars to battle for the 38 starting spots in Saturday’s World Crown 125,” said Elliott. “The competition will be fierce just to make this race. Our fans saw that last year when the Pro Late Models put on an amazing show as the headline division at the World Crown 300. Pairing them with the Trucks on Saturday this year will give our fans an incredible 1-2- punch of great racing.”
While the Super and Pro Late Models will grab the lion’s share of the attention, the 2010 World Crown 300 will hardly be a two-horse show as the US International Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Cars will again open the racing action on Friday, November 12. Nearly $4,500 in prize money will on the table for the Legends cars while the Thunder Cars will compete for $3,990 in cash including $1,000 to win.
The Outlaw Late Models and Renegade Street Stocks will also be a part of Friday’s World Crown lineup making the five-division show one of the most action-packed programs of the 2010 GMP racing season. The winner of the 50-lap Outlaw Late Model main event will take home a cool $1,000 while the Renegade 25-lap victor will also pocket $1,000.
“Moving the Pro Late Models and Trucks to Saturday night not only improved that show, but it also allowed us to schedule the Outlaws and Renegades with the full program of US International Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters on Friday,” stated Elliott. “That means our fans will get a double dose of action on both the GMP quarter- and half-mile ovals all in one program Friday night. Along with practice in all divisions that day – plus pole Super Late Model qualifying for Sunday’s World Crown 300 – is going to make this one of the busiest and most exciting days in the history of the speedway.”
Super and Pro Late Model teams planning on participating in the 2010 World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park are encouraged to enter now as the order for transporter parking, technical inspection, tire selection and qualifying position will be determined by the date which their entry form is received.
Registration forms and rules for the Super, Pro and Outlaw Late Models, Renegade and Truck divisions are posted on www.GreshamMotorsportsPark.com. Please note that approved head and neck restraint systems are mandatory for all divisions.
Teams are also advised that because of insurance regulations and security concerns, they will not be able to stay overnight in their transporters or RV’s parked in the infield during the 2010 World Crown 300 weekend.
An open test for all Super, Pro and Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Renegades, USAR Pro Cup and NASCAR K&N Pro Series competitors will be held on Saturday, February 27. The public is welcome to view the test free of charge from the GMP grandstand area.
