GMP STOCKERAMA OUTRUNS MOTHER NATURE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JEFFERSON, GA (SATURDAY, MAY 31, 2014) " Not even Mother Nature could stop Saturday s Stockerama " six-divisions of Stock Car Racing " at Gresham Motorsports Park.

Despite a heavy shower halfway through the program, GMP officials were able to dry the track in less than 90 minutes and get the entire show in. That proved to be good news for Allen Cantrell, Bryan Beckner, Gary Zajdek, Jackie Daniel, Matt Vassar and Jason Bates as all scored main event victories in their respective divisions.

Cantrell bested season-opening Stockerama winner Scotty Beck in a 25-lap battle of Ford Mustangs in the Mini Stock Division while Beckner put on a great driving display to capture the Renegade main event over Tommy Stokes and Blake Gregory.

Daniel made it two wins in as many GMP Stockerama s this season with a victory over John Mobley, Billy Cocker and Rob Hubbard in the 25-lap Sportsman headliner while Zajdek closed out the quarter-mile portion of the evening s program with his second Stockerama Front Wheel Drive feature event win.

The GMP Pro Trucks staged the most action-packed event of the evening slugging their way through a 30-lap feature on the GMP half-mile oval. Matt Vassar was first under the drop of the checkered flag while back in the pack, hard racing for position sent Dawson Gay s truck into a long slide where it eventually contacted the infield retaining wall just past the start/finish line. Gay was uninjured in the incident.

Finally, Jason Bates and Matthew Wragg staged an epic battle throughout the last event of the evening " the Outlaw Late Model 30-lap feature. Wragg filled Bates mirrors the entire, race but just couldn t get by for the win. Russell Shore was third in the OLM finale with David Murphy, Marlin Gunter and Brian Hardman rounding out the finishing order.
